Weekend Race Round Up: Track, Road and Ultra


WSU vs UW Dual Meet(Pullman) 4/28- The WSU Men beat the Huskies 87-76 and were fueled by an impressive sweep of the 3000 by Andrew Kimpel, Drew Jordan and Jono Lafler. Kimpel, a Sophomore from Spokane, led the sweep with a time of 8:18:10. On the Women’s side the Huskies scored 89 points to outdistanced the Cougars by 15 points, as Megan Goethals was a double winner in taking the 1500 and 3000 with times of 4:29.86 and 9:31.91. Both teams will be spend the next two weekends at the Pac-12 Championships in Eugene with the Multi Events on May 5th and 6th  and the rest of the team competition on May 12th and 13th.

Capitol Peak 50 miler/55k(Capital State Forest-Olympia) 4/28- The 50 Miler was won by Nicholas Triolo in 7:06:57 on the men’s side, while Jennifer Edwards of Olympia won the women’s race in 8:55:47. In the shorter race Rod Bien, 39, and Kathleen Eagan of Seattle ran 4:18:08 and 5:45:59 to capture the 55k titles.  The Capitol Peak course known for being rocky and rolling, has a section that climbs close to 1,000 feet in less than a mile. On Saturday morning, 150 brave souls conquered that climb!!!!

Eagle Run 5k(Oak Harbor) 4/28-Andrew Wyman, 39, and Laura Rodeheffer, both of Oak Harbor were the Men’s and Women’s winners the 8th Annual Eagle Run that is put on by the Oak Harbor Christian School and kicked off Holland Happenings on Saturday. Wyman's winning time of 16:52 was over 90 seconds ahead of second place. Rodeheffer, who is only 12, posted an extremely fast time of 19:59 with her convincing win.

2012 Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational(Stanford, CA) 4/29-Several Washington linked athletes running for various affiliations took part in the prestigious and fast Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational last night on the campus of Stanford University. Several athletes secured Olympic Trails Qualifying Times in their events, with Kevin Hicks, Mike Sayenko, Jake Riley, Lois Keller and Sarah Porter securing the “B” standard that they have until June 17th to improve upon. Times are listed below:

Men
 800-Kevin Hicks(SETA) 1:47.83, 1500-Shane Moskowitz(Oklahoma State) 3:44.31, 3000 Steeplechase-John Ricardi(CNW) 9:11.59, 10,000-Mike Sayenko(CNW) 28:12.42, Jake Riley(Unattached) 28:12.8

Women
1500-Laura Carlyle(Oregon State) 4:17.77, 3000 Steeplechase-Lois Keller(Club NW) 9:59.79, 5000-Jane Larson(Club NW) 16:38.85, 10,000-Sarah Porter(Zap Fitness) 33:26.16
