2012 Boys HS Track: Marcus Dickson Paces US with # 1 at 800 and 1600 Meters

The 2012 WIAA State Track & Field Championships are less that 3 weeks away and the seasonal Top 10 lists are starting to get fast. Marcus Dickson of White River leads both the 800 and 1600 meter lists with top times of 1:49.45 and 4:05.83. Two weeks ago Dickson just missed the state record for 800 meters at the Shoreline Invitational when he ran his 1:49.45. Though he missed the state record of 1:49.41 that was set in 1997, Dickson did post the fastest HS time in the US for the event. Dickson’s 1600 meter time is also a US #1. Izaic Yorks of Lakes and Nathan Weitz of Shadle Park are the only athletes to appear in the Top 10 at 800, 1600 and 3200 meters. 

The WIAA State Track and Field Championships will take place from May 24th-May 26^th.  The 1A, 1B and 2B Meet will be held on the campus of Eastern Washington University in Cheney.  The 2A, 3A and 4A meet will be held at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tacoma. State Championship info can be found on the WIAA website.
